20 Years of Experience
2016 - 2020Interplay Learning, Inc.
Director of Learning and Development
During my time at Interplay Learning, I led the creation of learning as a product for the company. When I joined this VC-backed VR training company, they were a small, bespoke-only VR training company. In four years, I had guided engineering, marketing, and sales in the building of a subscription based, VR learning product unmatched in the industry, complete with multi-tiered dynamic assessments and full competency based learning.
2009 - 2020Preston Consulting Group, LLC
Learning and Development Consultant
Preston Consulting Group is where my full range of creative design and education skills come to bear fruit. I enjoy a wide range of happy customers in a variety of industries, and work with them closely to achieve their learning goals. Projects range from full end-to-end ADDIE development, to rebuilds of ILT curriculum into an interactive CBT format.
2010 - 2016Fry Communications, Inc.
Digital Learning Publication Design and Development
Fry Communications is one of the largest print media publishers in the country. I led their Digital Publications Support Group in a full range of interactive digital publication development, both as a value-add to their print media, and as a training tool to be used by their employees. This position was an incredible learning experience for me, and I gained many skills in UI/UX design that I use to this day.
2009 - 2013Pick Safety, LLC
Director of Instructional Design, Co-Founder
I helped to found Pick Safety with the mission of training crane operators, signalmen, and riggers to achieve their goal of acquiring NCCCO certification in their field. We built a complete certification exam prep curriculum from scratch for each field, and successfully prepared thousands for their NCCCO exam, with exponentially higher retention and satisfaction rates than any other training group on the market at that time.
2006 - 2009GGS Information Services, Inc.
Special Projects Team lead, Training and Development
GGS was the pinnacle of my experience working in the Defense industry. I managed many projects during my tenure there, and created training that is still in use by multiple branches of the United States Military to this day. I spent multiple months on-site with clients such as Boeing, creating training packages from the ground up for new equipment, and I led a team of trainers for special, bespoke contracts.
2005 - 2006AAI Corporation
Training Developer, Technical Documentation Specialist II
While at AAI, I worked with subject matter experts and engineers to develop training packages for a number of UAV systems (drones), as well as ground control stations. The work was highly technical in nature, and I was challenged to build my knowledge of avionics.
2004 - 2005International Logistics Systems, Inc.
Training and Development Specialist, Team Lead
ILS was my first foray into the Defense contracting industry, after my honorable discharge from the Marines. I used the skills I had learned in the Corps to create military training packages for brand new field equipment, and conducted training for the first groups of testers of that equipment at Aberdeen Proving Grounds.
1998 - 2003United States Marine Corps
AAV Crew Chief
I spent five years in the Marine Corps, learning valuable skills and disciplines. It was in the Corps that I first realized my love of educating, and where I was given the first opportunity to train others on a large scale. I deployed twice to East Asia, and once to Iraq in 2003. I was the platoon training NCO, and was often requested by other platoons to train their new Marines.
